Making these snowy candied pecans is a breeze, which is perfect for the busy holiday season. Just mix powdered sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt and toss with the pecans. Pop in the oven, then shake in more powdered sugar and cinnamon for their snowy melt-in-your-mouth coating.

I love to use pecans for this recipe, but if you want to switch it up, feel free to sub your favorite nut, or a mixture of nuts, such as walnuts, hazelnuts, or cashews. This candied pecans recipe is perfect to serve during the holiday season as they are such a fun snack to have on hand for serving to friends or family, or bringing to a holiday party. They are perfect for gifting, and munching, or you can also use them to garnish plant-based yogurt, vegan ice cream, or to serve alongside a festive cocktail.

If you want to use these pecans in a savory dish, such as topping a salad, you can also make them without the snowy coating. Just follow the steps as written and skip the powdered sugar coating. They will turn out crunchy and delicious and make a great topper for many savory dishes. Yum!

Mix the pecans in the cinnamon sugar coating.

How to Make Snowy Candied Pecans:

Preheat your oven to 350℉ (180℃). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a non-stick baking mat.

In a large bowl, whisk the powdered sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt. Add the pecans and stir well until the pecans are evenly coated.

Spread on a baking sheet and bake!

Pour the pecans onto the prepared baking sheet and spread out as much as possible. Drizzle over any remaining sugar mixture. Bake for 10 - 12 minutes until the sugar is a rich golden brown. Make sure to keep a close eye on them so they don't burn. Remove from the oven, and allow them to cool for about 5 minutes until they are safe to handle, but still warm. If your pecans are sticky (and not crunchy), this means they haven't baked long enough. Before coating them in the powdered sugar, simply pop them back in the oven for a few more minutes, keeping a close eye on them so that they don't burn.

Note: If you want plain candied pecans without the snowy coating, stop here, let them cool, then break apart and use them as desired.

Shake in powdered sugar and cinnamon

Make the snowy coating by mixing the powdered sugar and cinnamon in a large sealable bag or large clean and dry bowl.
Add the still warm pecans to the snowy coating and shake the bag or use a spoon to evenly coat them in the sugar mixture. Transfer to a dish or container discarding any extra powdered sugar left behind. Enjoy right away or store the cooled pecans in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 month.

This batch makes about 8 servings, but feel free to double or triple the recipe as needed. Just make sure to divide the recipe among a few baking sheets so they still have lots of room to spread out and bake properly.
