Because of you, the world is a kinder, greener place!
This year, over 14 million people visited It Doesn't Taste Like Chicken. I know some people are just browsing or saving recipes for later, so let's be super conservative. If just 1 in 10 visitors made a single vegan meal, together we:
🥕 Saved 466,972 animal lives
💧 Conserved 513 million gallons of water
🌾 Spared 18.7 million pounds of grain
🌳 Protected 14 million square feet of forest
🌍 Prevented 9.3 million pounds of CO2 emissions
How incredible is that?! 🌟 This is what happens when we choose compassion one plate at a time. Every recipe you try makes a difference—for the animals, the planet, and us all. 💚
More notable moments of 2024:
📚 My latest cookbook, Craving Vegan, was voted "Best Vegan Cookbook" by VegNews in their 2024 Veggie Awards!
🏆 Craving Vegan also took home gold at the Taste Canada Awards in the "Health or Special Diet Cookbooks" category!
💻 But the most rewarding part of this year wasn’t just awards—it was reconnecting with you, my incredible community. This year, for the first time in many years, I wasn’t writing a new cookbook. With no cookbook deadlines, I got to fully dive into creating fresh, free recipes just for you! The result? Blog traffic skyrocketed, and we’re now welcoming over 1 million visitors a month to It Doesn’t Taste Like Chicken!

Happy and Prosperous New Year to you.
Wanted to let you know that your site is the first place I send newbies, because of the reliability of the recipes, and the breadth of the collection.
Never have I had someone new to this way of life come to me and complain that the recipes didn't come out right. That alone is a credit to you.
May I suggest a collection of "meals for one" as many of the newbies I speak to are the only member of the family - maybe with a note on how to complete this vegan meal along side a meaty one.
Thankyou for all of your time and efforts to make us all look good in the vegan kitchen.

Hi Sam, Happy New Year 2025 to you and your loved ones! May the upcoming year be even more successful for you personally, professionally and in helping save the lives of our animal co-habitants on this beautiful blue planet. 🌎
You have 269 taco recipes archived (kidding! 😄) but I don’t see a recipe for tostadas. A Google search left me uninspired. So I’d like to request that you work on a vegan tostadas recipe with that special Sam pizzazz. 👍🌶️

thanks for all the recipes you have shared last year and the years before. Please don't laugh but i do enjoy a really good fruitcake - w/ dried fruit and not candied - but haven't had one in a long time since there aren't many good vegan ones out there. And chance you would consider developing one?

Please can you post a recipe for strawberry cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding? those are my omni husbands favourites and I'd love to be able to make good ones! LOVE your recipes, they never disappoint ❤️

Thank you so much Emma! I have added them both to my idea list 🙂

Congratulations Sam on an amazing year of very well deserved awards and recognition. Thank you so much for your straightforward easy to follow recipes, that make delicious vegan food possible for amateur bakers like me. One recipe that is problematic is 'yorksire puddings'. The original recipe produces a batter that when cooked in a tin with hot oil rises at the sides to produce a bowl of light fluffy pudding with a crisp outer. So far the closest I can create is using a premixed vegan pancake mix from a supermarket. It's a central component to an english roast dinner or toad in the hole. Basically winter comfort food. Just wondering if you've heard of these? Best wishes to you for the New Year
Sam Turnbull @ It Doesn't Taste Like Chicken says
Hi Emma! Yes, my husband has been asking me for yorkshire puddings forever! I have done a few tests but haven't landed on the perfect recipe yet so I will definitely add it to my list this year. Thank you so much for the kind words 🙂
