Terriiiiiiiiiiiiific recipe, it beats store bought by far. We don't do alcohol so it was buzz-free. The black salt REALLY added to the flavor!!! - Lizzie ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Traditional eggnog is made with egg yolks, heavy cream, and sugar. My Easy Vegan Oat Nog swaps these for plant-based ingredients, creating a healthier and flavorful alternative. This dairy-free eggnog recipe tastes rich, creamy, and surprisingly close to the traditional version—without any dairy or eggs!
To make this non-dairy eggnog, I use Barista oat milk, such as Oatly's Barista Edition or Earth's Own Barista Oat, which has a super creamy texture and foams beautifully when shaken or blended. You can also use homemade oat milk or substitute it with soy milk or almond milk. The oat milk eggnog recipe recipe gets its festive flavor from ground cinnamon and nutmeg, two warm spices. If you like, add a tiny pinch of black salt (kala namak) for a subtle eggy taste.
Serve this oat nog over ice as a holiday cocktail with dark rum, spiced rum, or brandy. Or enjoy it plain as a healthier alternative to store-bought nog during the holiday season. For an even richer variation, try my Quick Vegan Coconut Nog recipe, which uses high-fat coconut milk.
How to make easy vegan oat nog:
Combine Ingredients: Add the oat milk, maple syrup, vanilla, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and black salt (if using) to a jar, blender, or cocktail shaker.
Mix: Shake vigorously or blend until fully combined and foamy.
Serve: Pour over ice, adding a shot of alcohol (spiced rum, dark rum, or brandy) per serving if desired. Garnish with extra ground nutmeg, a cinnamon stick, or star anise for a festive touch.
Store Leftovers: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Shake or mix again before serving as the spices will settle naturally.
This easy vegan oat nog recipe is...
- Quick and easy to make—ready in just 5 minutes!
- A flavorful, healthier alternative to traditional nog
- Delicious plain or served with a shot of dark rum, spiced rum, or brandy
- Creamy, dairy-free, and made with simple ingredients

Do you suggest adding espresso to this eggnog so it’s just like a Starbucks Eggnog Latte, or adding this eggnog to a black americano / long coffee as a creamer? Thanks!
Sam Turnbull @ It Doesn't Taste Like Chicken says
Oooh yum! I would add the oat nog to coffee in place of creamer, I think that would be delish!

Good really good doesn’t taste just like the egg nog I used drink before going vegan but it’s pretty close. With the added value of bei cruelty free so that’s a win in book. Thank You Sam. Love your recipes.
